A powerful artwork showing the evolution of animals and the connection between living things.
“I want to keep making
new art!”
This is the first exhibition in Hiroshima by animal artist Yoshinari Ishimura. He has loved animals since he was a child and paints them with strong passion every day. His large paintings are full of energy and life.
With rich colors and powerful designs, Ishimura’s animals—such as a lion with a sad face, a sleepy panda, a relaxed polar bear with her cub, and a tiger ready to jump—look gentle and full of spirit.
This exhibition contains more than 300 artworks such as the 26m long masterpiece “Animal history”, acrylic painting, and woodblock print which is the origin of his activity.
New paintings of animals from Hiroshima Zoo,
made just for this exhibition, will also be shown!

YOSHINARI ISHIMURA
- 2012
- During his final year of high school, he discovered a passion for art through an art class he chose, where he began working with acrylics and printmaking. After graduating, he started creating artwork in earnest at his home studio.
- 2013
- One of his artworks were acclaimed and the Excellence Award at the 2nd Nouvelle École de Paris Ukiyo-e Art Exhibition. This marked the beginning of wider recognition for his work.
- 2014
- The first solo exhibition is held in his home prefecture, Ehime. Since then, solo exhibitions have been held in Okayama and Ehime.
- 2023
- About 55000 people were fascinated by the exhibition “Ikimono-daisuki” in the Museum of Art, Ehime.
- 2024
- 35000 people visited his exhibition in Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art. The autographical film was released.
- 2025
- From April to May this year, the solo exhibition will be held at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.
He was born in 1994 and is currently 31 years old. At the age of two, he was diagnosed with autism.
He was supported by his family and people around him.
In his fifth year of elementary school, he experienced the loss of his beloved mother.
After that, he lives hand in hand with his father. He lives in Niihama City, Ehime prefecture.
